The Hellcats
The formation of US rock band the Hellcats came as a direct result of the dissolution of their better-remembered forebears, Starz. Both Michael Lee Smith (vocals) and Richie Ranno (guitar) had been integral members of that group, and formed Hellcats in the early 80s with the assistance of Peter Scance (bass) and Doug Madick (drums), recruited from Prism. Like Starz before them, the group elected to concentrate on a classical American rock style, replete with powerful hooks and adept musicianship.
